Bec‧kett, Sam‧u‧el /ˈbekɪt, ˈsæmjuəl/
(1906–89) an Irish writer of plays, novels, and poetry who lived in France and is famous for his play
Waiting for Godot. In 1969 he won the Nobel Prize for Literature.
