Dean, James (1931–55) a US film actor who became extremely famous, and then died in a car crash at the age of 24. After his death he became even more popular, and he is still thought of, especially by young people, as a typical example of a young
rebel (=someone who refuses to do follow social rules or behave in the way that other people want them to). His films include
East of Eden (1955) and
Rebel Without a Cause (1955).
