[Partly from medieval Latin Gregorianus (in sense 2 cantus Gregorianus) from late Latin Gregorius from Greek Grēgorios; partly from the English name Gregory: see -IAN.]
A. adjective.
1. Of, pertaining to, or established by Pope Gregory XIII (1502-85). L16.
Gregorian calendar the modified form of the Julian calendar, established by Pope Gregory XIII in 1582 and adopted in Britain in 1752.

2. Of or pertaining to Pope Gregory I (c 560-604); esp. designating or according to the plainsong ritual music or chant founded on the Antiphoner attributed to him. L16.
