Jen‧ner, Edward /ˈdʒenəʳ/
(1749–1823) a British doctor who developed the principle of vaccination. He discovered that putting a small amount of COWPOX (=a disease that affects cows) into people's bodies protected them from smallpox, a related disease that had killed many people until then.
