Mur‧doch, Dame Iris /ˈmɜːdɒk $ ˈmɜːrdɑːk/
(1919–99) a British writer born in Ireland. She is known for her intelligent, humorous, and often complicated novels which include The Sea, The Sea and The Book and the Brotherhood. She has also written books about philosophy.
