Neh‧ru, Ja‧wa‧har‧lal /ˈneəruː, dʒəˈwɑːhəˌlɑːl $ -hər-/
(1889–1964) an Indian politician who was one of the leaders of India's fight for independence from the UK. He became India's first Prime Minister after its independence (1947–64), and he was the father of Indira Gandhi.
