in ancient Greek stories, the son of
Agamemnon, King of
Mycenae, and Clytemnestra. Clytemnestra and her lover Aegisthus kill Agamemnon when Orestes is a child. When he becomes an adult, Orestes kills his mother and Aegisthus.
