Paige, Satch‧ell /peɪdʒ, ˈsætʃəl/
(1906–82) a US baseball player, famous as a pitcher, who played in the National Negro Leagues from 1926 to 1947, and became one of the first black players in the Major Leagues when he joined the Cleveland Indians team in 1948.
