Peter, Saint
the leader of Jesus Christ's twelve disciples (=his close friends and followers), who became the leader of the first Christians. He is considered by Catholics to be the first Pope, and is thought of as being in charge of the keys of the gates to Heaven. He is sometimes called Simon Peter.
