Polo, Mar‧co /ˈmɑːkəʊ $ ˈmɑːr-/
(?1254–1324) an Italian traveller whose writings gave Europeans their first knowledge of life in the
Far East. He went to India, southeast Asia, and China, and spent several years working for the Chinese
emperor Kublai Khan.
