Rom‧mel, Field Marshal /ˈrɒməl $ ˈrɑː-/
(1891–1944) a German military leader in World War II who was known as the Desert Fox, and who won important battles in North Africa and Egypt, but was defeated by Montgomery at El Alamein in 1942. He was part of a secret plan to kill Hitler, and when this failed he killed himself.
