(1966-)a Russian billionaire who is thought to be the richest person living in the UK. During the 1990s he made a lot of money in the oil industry. Together with Boris Berezovsky, another rich Russian businessman, he once owned a large oil company called Sibneft. He is also the main owner of Millhouse Capital, a private investment company, and has many shares in companies that produce steel and aluminium. Newspapers often describe him as one of the Russian oligarchs. Abramovich is the owner of Chelsea football club and is known for spending a lot of money on new players for the team. In 2000 he was elected Governor of Chukotka, a province in the Far East of Russia.
