Am‧strad /ˈæmstræd/
trademark a British company that produces electronic goods, and was known especially in the 1980s for producing
word processing equipment that was not expensive. In the 1990s the company mainly produced
satellite dishes and
set-top boxes. Amstrad was started by the businessman Sir Alan Sugar, and was bought by BSkyB in 2007.
