Ash‧ke‧na‧zy, Vlad‧i‧mir /ˌæʃkəˈnɑːzi, ˈvlædəmɪəʳ/
(1937–) a pianist and conductor (=someone who directs a group of musicians) who was born in the former Soviet Union. He was musical director of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in London from 1987 to 1994.
