Bor‧ne‧o /ˈbɔːniəʊ $ ˈbɔːr-/
the largest island of the Malay Archipelago (=a group of many islands) in southeast Asia. Part of it belongs to Malaysia and part of it to Indonesia, and it also includes the Sultanate of Brunei. Population: 12,000,000 (1991). It is known for its tropical forests.
