Crip‧pen, Dr. /ˈkrɪpən, ˈkrɪpɪn/
(1862–1910) a US doctor who murdered his wife in England and then tried to escape to the US on a ship. The ship received a Morse code message from the police, and as a result he was caught. Dr. Crippen is known as being the first criminal to be caught in this way.
