Deˌpartment of ˈJustice, the (
abbreviation DOJ)
a US government department which is responsible for dealing with the law. Its work includes writing laws, representing the government in a court of law, and doing criminal
investigations (=searching for information to solve crimes). The head of the Department of Justice is called the
attorney general. The department's full name is the United States Department of Justice.
