Edward I, King /ˌedwəd ðə ˈfɜːst $ -wərd ðə ˈfɜːrst/
(1239–1307) the king of England from 1272 until his death. He took part in the
CRUSADES, and later established English control over Wales. He tried to do the same in Scotland, but was unsuccessful.
