Edward VII, King /ˌedwəd ðə ˈsev
ənθ $ -wərd-/
(1841–1910) the British king from 1901 until his death. He did not become king until he was fairly old, because his mother, Queen Victoria, lived so long. Before he became king, he had a very enjoyable social life, and spent a lot of time at horse races, in the theatre etc. Although he was married, he had many love affairs, and the actress Lillie Langtry was his
mistress for many years.
