Flod‧den /ˈflɒdn $ ˈflɑːdn/ (also ˌFlodden ˈField)
a hillside in Northumberland in the north of England, where there was a battle between England and Scotland in 1513. The Scots were severely defeated and their king, James IV, was killed.
