Gates, Bill /ɡeɪts/
(1955–) a US computer programmer and businessman, who started the Microsoft company and is famous for being one of the richest men in the world. He is now also well known for giving large amounts of money to charity through the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation which was started in 2000.
