Grif‧fith, D.W. /ˈɡrɪfəθ, ˈɡrɪfɪθ/
(1875–1948) one of the greatest US film directors, famous especially for inventing new ways of making films and of using the camera. His films include Birth of a Nation (1915) and Intolerance (1916).
