Greek Mythology.
1. (The islands containing) gardens with a tree of golden apples guarded by nymphs and popularly located beyond the Atlas mountains at the western border of Oceanus, the river encircling the world. L16.

2. The (three, four, or seven) nymphs, daughters of Hesperus (or, in earlier versions, of Night and Hades), who guarded the tree in these gardens. E17.
