Hiss, Al‧ger /ˈældʒəʳ/
(1904–1996) a US government official who was put in prison from 1950 to 1954 for being a Communist
spy. Many people believed he was not guilty, and documents from the former Soviet Union seemed to prove this, when they were made public in 1992. ⇒
