James, P.D.
(1920–) a British writer of crime stories who invented the character of Adam Dalgliesh, a policeman from Scotland Yard. Many of her books have been filmed for television, such as Death of an Expert Witness and An Unsuitable Job for a Woman. Her official title is Baroness James of Holland Park.
