Kir‧i‧bat‧i /ˌkɪrɪˈbɑːti/
a country in the Pacific Ocean, consisting of 33 islands. Population 98,549 (2003). Capital: Bairiki. It was formerly ruled by the UK and called the Gilbert Islands, but has been independent since 1979.
