Of a colloid: not having an affinity for the dispersion medium, and readily precipitated out by small quantities of electrolyte. Of a sol: containing such a phase, and generally having a similar surface tension and viscosity to the dispersion medium, and on evaporation or cooling giving a solid which cannot readily be reconverted into a sol.
