McCanns, the /məˈkænz/
Kate and Gerry McCann are the British parents of three-year-old Madeleine McCann who disappeared on 3rd May 2007 while the family were staying at the holiday resort of Praia da Luz in the Algarve, Portugal. She disappeared from an apartment while her parents and their friends were eating at a restaurant 120 metres away. The girl’s disappearance received a lot of attention in the media, especially in tabloid newspapered which have been criticized for the way in which they reported the events.
