Payne, Cyn‧thi‧a /peɪn, ˈsɪnθiə/
(1933–) a British woman who used to run a
brothel (=a place where
prostitutes have sex for money), which was said to have been used by judges, lords, and police officers. Newspapers often referred to her as ‘Madame Cyn’ because the beginning of her name sounds like the word ‘sin’.
