Pepys, Sam‧u‧el /piːps, ˈsæmjuəl/
(1633–1703) an English writer famous for his
diary (=a book in which you write what happens to you each day), which describes his personal life and the important events of the time, such as the
Great Fire of London, and gives a lot of information about what life was like at the time. At the end of his description of each day, he writes ‘And so to bed’.
