Pin‧no‧chi‧o /pɪˈnəʊkiəʊ/
a character in an Italian children's story that was later made into a
cartoon film. Pinocchio is a wooden
puppet who comes alive as a real boy, and whose nose grows longer when he tells lies. People sometimes mention the idea of someone's nose growing longer to mean that someone is lying.
