Revere, Paul (1735–1818) an American
folk hero known for riding at night on the 18th April 1775 to the town of Concord in Massachusetts, in order to warn the people there that the British soldiers were coming. The next day the
American Revolutionary War started. His brave action is described in
Longfellow's poem
