Sa‧gan, Carl /ˈseɪɡən, kɑːl $ kɑːrl/
(1934–97) a US astronomer (=a scientist who studies the stars), who was especially interested in discovering whether there were living creatures in other parts of the universe. He made a popular series of television programmes about the universe, called Cosmos.
