Sar·ko·zy, Nic·o·las /sɑːkəʊˈziː, nɪkəʊˈlɑː $ sɑːrkoʊˈziː, nɪkoʊ-/
(1955-) a French politician who became President of France in May 2007. Before being elected President, he was the leader of the Union for a Popular Movement (UMP), a right-wing party. He has also held various other government positions including Minister of the Interior, Minister of State of Economy, Finance, and Industry, and Minister of the Budget. He is married to the model and musician Carla Bruni, and his nickname is “Sarko”.
