Sel‧la‧field /ˈseləfiːld/
a NUCLEAR POWER and NUCLEAR REPROCESSING station in Cumbria, northwest England, formerly called ‘Windscale’. Sellafield produces electricity, and also treats waste from nuclear fuel so that it can be used again. Some people believe that workers at Sellafield and people who live nearby are more at risk of developing cancer than other people.
