Shields, Carol
(1935–2003) a US born Canadian writer who wrote stories about the daily lives of ordinary people, but which also deal with difficult and complicated themes (=the main subject or idea in a book etc). Her books include Swann, Larry's Party, and The Stone Diaries, which won a Pulitzer Prize in 1995.
