ˌTate ˈGallery, the (also the Tate)
the name of several major art galleries (gallery) in the UK. The original Tate Gallery in central London is now called Tate Britain. There are also two smaller Tate Galleries outside London, one in Liverpool, and one in St Ives in Cornwall.
