کامپیوتر: ویروسهای کامپیوتری از یک کامپیوتر به کامپیوتر دیگر عبور می‌کنند. ویروس یک قسمت از کد است که به یک برنامه عمومی مثل یک بازی معروف یا یک کلمه پردازشگر معروف می‌چسبد. ویروس خودش را درون حافظه بارگذاری می‌کند, وقتی کارش را شروع کرد تکثیر می‌شود. تقریبا برنامه‌ای که در سی‌دی می‌باشد آلودگی ویروس را غیرممکن می‌سازد.
زیست شناسی: ویروس، ذرات عفونت زای کوچکی هستند که از صافی عبور کرده و باعث بیماری در انسان و حیوانات می شوند. شامل یک لایه پروتیینی ضخیم است که در بر گیرنده RNA و یا DNA (هر دو را باهم ندارد) می باشد. ویروسها برای تکثیر نآچار به استفاده از یک سلول میزبان می هستند
