(1863) a book for children by Charles Kingsley about a young boy called Tom, who is a CHIMNEY-SWEEP (=someone who cleans chimneys). Tom falls into a river and magically changes into a ‘water baby’, and he learns all about good and evil from the good and evil creatures under the water.
