Usage Note:
edit = examine and make changes and corrections to a manuscript in preparation for printing: 'The text was still full of mistakes and obviously hadn't been edited.'
publish = produce (a book, magazine, newspaper, etc) for sale to the public: 'The book was first published in 1987.'
